It morphed and moved with a mysterious current within, warbling and pulsing. Despite fifty Calendars worth of attempts to destroy it— blade, fire, burning oil, or stone entombment—the cursed thing always returned.

Then, poked at from within, the Membrane burst. I never got used to the odd smell, in fact, my intolerance for it had worsened. I held back my breath. My heart chugged blood in my ears. Ahead, glowing spores erupted, crimson, luminescent and putrid. And, then, the first of them appeared!"

Slay Horrifying Bosses.

I could hear the creatures crawling out, their claws planting themselves heavily on the earth, and tearing at it with each step. The slickness of their joints made rubbery sounds which along with their breaths and coos, turned to a nightmarish cacophony. Elsewhere the forest had gone silent.

The vilest of things, however, was not their appearance or the sounds they made, it was what they could do. If they dug their root-like extensions into human or animal flesh, it wouldn't be long before their venom tainted the victim's veins black, and bleached their eyes white, until even the bone decayed like a hollowed wax.
