Game Description

Kuindzhi, 93 is an atmospheric first-person narrative vignette about an 18-year-old boy from Donbas. The story takes us to March 2022, when the world changed forever — into a space where the past, fears, and doubts find their voice.

After his father is drafted and sent to the front, the protagonist volunteers in Mariupol, leaving his studies behind and ignoring his mother’s fears.

Artyom never takes up a weapon. This is a story about a traumatizing environment, inner conflicts, and the search for one’s place.

Past and present intertwine, turning into an internal dialogue in which Artyom must answer not to the world, but to himself—for fear, for guilt, for the choice he made, and for the choice he did not.

The plot and setting are based on real events, but their details are intentionally composite. We consciously avoid interpreting or appropriating other people’s specific, personal stories.

In terms of genre, the game is inspired by narrative masterpieces such as What Remains of Edith Finch and Firewatch.

— Special attention is paid to sound design: radio conversations, distant explosions, footsteps, rustling, creaks, and that overwhelming silence. All of this brings the scene together into a single, living space.

— A realistic visual presentation helps convey the weight of the environment and prevents emotional detachment from what is happening.

— Artyom is voiced by rapper Husky, while the fighter with the callsign “Bear” is voiced by Dima OM., a familiar voice from Donbas.
