Game Description

Bogeys, Ghosts & Gods is a non-linear Chinese fantasy visual novel, which is adapted from the classic Chinese supernatural collection Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio.

An Age of Extraordinary Famine is both a natural disaster and a man-made calamity; for the sufferers, their journey is both exile and survival. Before they knew it, several sufferers stepped into the fantastical world within the book. If you step into this bizarre and fantastical world, what choices will you make?

Bogeys, Ghosts & Gods

“Bogeys, Ghosts & Gods” is not only a name, but also a core theme. It focuses on retelling myths, fables, legends, and supernatural stories in various styles.

This installment, Bogeys, Ghosts & Gods: Liaozhai Arc, is adapted from the Chinese supernatural short story collection Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio (its Pinyin is Liao Zhai Zhi Yi). The game will select some chapters from the collection as main stories and use key elements from certain chapters as supplementary details for the story.

Paper Painting Art

The game's visuals are meticulously hand-drawn on paper.Artists use tools like pencils, outlining pens, writing brushes, and ink to create the artwork. Finished manuscripts are scanned at high DPI to create a "digital master," then undergo unified digital adjustments to achieve ultra-high-definition (UHD) quality.

Story Source

Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio (1662-1707) was completed by Pu Songling over forty-odd years. It is a collection of nearly 500 short stories (491 or 494), with humans, demons, fox spirits, ghosts, and deities as main characters, recounting numerous highly imaginative individual tales.
