Game Description

Crimson Rain is a detective puzzle game where you solve cases by manipulating time and observing human behavior.

You play as The Detective, a silent, faceless entity that appears when a given setting is overwhelmed by lies. When you arrive, time freezes, every entity in the scene is scattered across a given timeline and locked in place, and crimson rain relentlessly pours from the sky.

Your job is to figure out what happened in every scene by reconstructing the events in sequential order.

How it works

The game takes place across several locations and time periods, all converging to deliver a singular narrative.

You can interact with any character and for their given timelines you can:

  • Stop time for them

  • Rewind their actions

  • Fast-forward their actions

By watching where people go, what they interact with, and how their actions affect others, you slowly reconstruct the events of the case. As you investigate these characters, you also collect their timelines in a simple deduction screen in which you have to place all of these events in order to solve the case's events.

Every character in the scene looks and sounds identical, so you cannot rely on appearance or tone to drive deduction. With all aesthetic bias gone, the only information you get comes from behavior, timing, and proximities and relations between each character's isolated actions.

  • Non-linear narrative structure

  • Stylized black-and-white visuals with dynamic red rain

  • Music-based hint system

  • Noir-inspired jazz soundtrack with synthwave overtones
