Rhizomatic Compound is an action adventure platformer in the tradition of games like Another World and Flashpoint. It is hand drawn, animated, and painted evoking late 70s, early 80s European sci-fi art. This is the first video game developed by the influential collective Decadence and will feature the rich world building and storytelling found in their comics.

Rhizomatic Compound takes place on a distant alien planet colonized by humanity. The reckless exploitation of resources has caused environmental collapse and forced the colonists to live underground in vast networks of tunnels called the ‘Rhizomes’. You play the part of a scientist with an expertise in exotic fauna and flora that has been sent to investigate after contact is lost with the colony.  As you explore, you will need to use the resources available to you to navigate the failing colony infrastructure.  Unraveling the mysteries of this strange and ill disposed world won't be an easy task.

The game explores themes of, viral infections, mutations, alien archaeology, speculative botany, and the merging of biology and technology, all filtered through the lens of science fiction.
