Rural is a family-made indie game inspired by classic farming and life-simulation games, reimagined in a 3D voxel world. Start with almost nothing and, through hard work, determination, and perseverance, create a fulfilling rural life.

Whether you prefer a cozy experience or a challenging survival journey, the difficulty settings let you choose how peaceful—or harsh—country life will be.

🌱 Farm, Craft, and Live Off the Land

Grow vegetables, cereals, and fruit trees. Raise animals such as chickens, sheep, pigs, cows, and horses. Collect eggs, wool, and milk or butcher animals for meat. Cook meals to restore hunger, energy, and health as you learn new recipes and become fully self-sufficient.

🛠️ Build, Craft, and Expand

Chop trees and drag logs home, turn them into firewood or timber, and use them to craft furniture, tools, carts, and storage. Build essential structures like barns, coops, sawmills, forges, and workbenches to support your growing homestead.

⛏️ Explore, Hunt, and Survive

Explore forests, mountains, rivers, and the sea. Mine stone, coal, iron, and gold, and forge raw ore into useful bars. Hunt wildlife such as rabbits, deer, and bears—but beware: wolves and bears can attack you, your animals, or your companions.

🐕 Companions and Transportation

Tame and ride horses, build carts to transport heavy loads, and travel faster across the world. Adopt a loyal dog to accompany you on your journeys. Navigate rivers and coastlines with a motorboat and discover new fishing spots.

🎣 Fishing with Depth

Fish in rivers, lakes, and the sea, each with different species and behaviors. Use the right bait and techniques to catch a wide variety of fish across changing seasons.

🏘️ A Living Village with Quests

The nearby town is home to 30 unique characters, including farmers, hunters, miners, doctors, builders, artists, and more. Each NPC follows a daily and weekly schedule, visits markets and fairs, runs shops, and offers quests. As you help them, you build relationships—completing quests increases friendship, unlocking deeper connections and making you feel truly part of village life.
