Game Description

For twenty years, the Outer Islands off the coast of Scotland have been quarantined. The industry shuttered. The people gone.

It is 1956. You are Detective Constable Shepherd, sent to uncover what happened to the inhabitants — and why the Ministry of Defence sealed the archipelago two decades ago.

Armed with your wits and your camera, you begin on Gondola Island, the only safe harbour. From there, you must navigate the internal transportation systems left behind to reach Asylum Rock, Pandora’s Rock, and the other abandoned outposts.

Explore remote coastal settlements in first person. Search buildings, examine objects, collect documents, and solve environmental puzzles to unlock new areas. Use your inventory to combine and apply items, operate machinery, and access sealed structures.

Piece together the history of a strange and insular community through scattered records, personal effects, and the remnants of industrial infrastructure. Every location holds fragments of a larger mystery that unfolds through observation and deduction.

The Outer Islands is a detective exploration game focused on atmosphere and environmental storytelling. There is no combat. Progress comes through patience, investigation, and connecting clues across multiple interconnected islands.

Features:

– A fully explorable archipelago spanning multiple distinct locations
– Inventory system with item collection and combination
– Environmental puzzles and machinery restoration
– Document and evidence tracking
– Interactive camera mechanics
– Dynamic weather and lighting across a detailed 1950s setting
– Non-linear exploration within a structured narrative arc
– No combat, no time limits — explore at your own pace

As development continues, new areas and revelations will expand the mystery, building toward a deeper understanding of what truly happened.
